Unicorn graph for sale

I know, I usually post graphs that are free, but this one took a lot of work and time! (You may need to turn your phones sideways to see the graph!)

Unicorns are said to possess magical abilities and healing powers.  They are associated with purity, chastity, and power.

I don't think kids (and lately most adults) care about that though.  They just think they're cool!  And sparkly rainbow unicorns are the coolest.  I gotta admit, I agree.

This graph can be used to create a throw blanket about 4 x 5 ft.  Email me for the graph, general instructions (no written pattern), and pricing information at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with "unicorn graph" in the subject line.  The graph is $5. After receiving payment I'll email you the pdf of the graph.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have an amazing logo in my opinion!  I mean, it's a little obvious, they're in Buffalo and their logo is a buffalo...

But look at it! The strength of the leaping buffalo, the perception of motion, and of course the red white and blue colors are always attractive!

This graph was made to create a twin size afghan when using 2 dc per graph square and an H hook.  I'd suggest working it from the short side to avoid too many color changes.  I like to use a method called intarsia where I leave the unused color hanging and pick up the new.  You can see photos of this method in this blog post.  If you'd like the pdf of the graph you can go to kendrascrochetedcreations.com and save orprintright from your browser.  If you'd like me to make you one, I can do that too. Email me at kendra@kendrascrochetedcreations.com for pricing.

If you make this please send  me a photo!  I'd love to see it.  When you share to social media please credit me with the design and tag  @KendrasCrochetedCreations on Facebook and @KendrasCrochet on Twitter and Instagram.  If you like it, let me know in the comments!

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have changed their logo several times over the years but I think this is the most recognized one. Or maybe it's just the one I like best 😀 .  It was recently changed again to a single M with a barley head from this baseball glove style MB.

To make your own, email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com for the pdf of the graph, putting "Milwaukee Brewers" in the subject line. Use an H hook and 2 dc per graph square to get a twin sized afghan.  To get a 4 x 5 ft throw, use a J hook and 1 sc per graph square. Increase the number of rows on top and bottom by 5 each and left and right by 15 each.

If you'd like me to make you one, I can do that too.  Email me for pricing.

If you have a special request that hasn't been posted, please let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Rubik's cube throw instructions

Materials needed: H hook, around 1 skein each Red Heart yellow, orange, red, blue, white, green (shades of your choice) and around 2 skeins black, yarn needle

Gauge: 7 dc and 4 rows = 2 inches

Finished size: appx 44" x 60 "

Instructions:
Make 9 of each color:
With block color, chain 23. Dc in 3rd chain from hook. Dc in each chain to end.  (22 dc)
2. Ch 2, turn. Dc in each dc to end.
Repeat row 2 until you have a square (I made 9 rows, but I could have made 10 because if you look closely, the color blocks aren't perfectly square). Fasten off at the end of last row.

Turn, Attach black to corner with sl st. ch 3. 2 more dc in same corner.  Dc in each dc across, putting 5 dc in corner stitch.  Turn work 90° to work along side of block. Put 1 dc around the top row's dc, then put 2 dc around he end of each row till you get to the bottom row.  Put 1 dc in bottom row's dc. Put 5 dc in corner. Turn to work across bottom of block.  Dc in each dc to end. 5 dc in last stitch, turn to work along edge. Repeat first edge , but put 2 dc in beginning corner. Join with sl st, fasten off.

With black, sew blocks together.  You may decide to mix up your blocks like a scrambled Rubik's cube. If you do this, I'd love a photo!  When all blocks are sew together, go around outside edge with black using dc (5 in the corners!) just as you did for the color blocks.

I also sewed a sheet to the back of mine because I made it for my son and he dislikes afghans or "blankets with holes" so I wanted to make him more comfortable.

Grad afghan progress day 8

The original graph
8 days progress. almost done!

Only another day or 2 to finish this graduation present!   It's going a bit faster now that the color blocks are larger and I don't have to change color every few stitches as I did in a couple areas.  I'm almost done with the picture on the design, then to finish off the purple area of the background and add a border.  I'm playing with the idea of making the border designed as well instead of just a plain stripe.  What do you think?

Grad afghan progress Day 6

Well, 6 days in and I'm about 2/3 done. Right on schedule!  But look at that tangled mess of yarn on the right!  Ugh!  It's going to take a while to fix that. I have about 8 strands attached at this point. A few more rows and the 1 will be completed and I can cut the white and have an easier time untangling that knot on the right. I'm wondering whether I have enough white left to complete this project, I may have to start another skein.  I'm using Red heart yarn. 2 purple (I think the actual name is "amethyst") "pounder" skeins, 1 white "pounder" and 2 black 7 oz skeins that still have plenty more yarn on them. It's looking pretty good,I think. minus the messy yarn on the right, of course.

Grad afghan progress, Day 4

the original graph
This is the original graph I'm working from.  I'm using 2 dc per graph square to make a throw.  My hook is a size H.

finished product

This is the first version of the afghan. The next version has a white cap.

my progress so far
This is 4 day's worth of crochet.  I work around 2 hours a day on it (with several breaks to do laundry, wash dishes, and other domestic chores). I am now 40 rows in and you can really tell what's going on here now!  I have a new length of yarn for each color break, unless I only have a few stitches to carry the color under.

This photo also shows what I mean when I tell my inquirers that I work the afghan from the side.  Imagine working all those color changes in the numbers in the same rows!  Yikes!

Steelers throw

I was this far on my Steelers throw when my part of Michigan came under a travel ban due to snow accumulations so I was happy to put off my other obligations (taking my son to school, getting groceries, etc.) and finish it today!

I was happy to watch my newly recorded (on the dvr) Pride and Prejudice (my favorite story of all time, possibly). I hadn't seen the Kiera Knightley version yet so curling up with it and a project to finish sounded like a perfect day to me!

I think it turned out really well.  I hope my cousin, who commissioned this for her husband for their upcoming anniversary, likes this as much as I do.  What do you think?

If you'd like to try it yourself, email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com and ask for the Steelers graph.  It took me (57 double crochet stitches more than ) 2 black, about 1 and a half white, about 1 grey(I used 2 at once; 1 on each side of the circle) and a small amount of gold, blue, and red. I used a G hook and 2 dc per graph square. Final product has yet to be measured because my measuring tape walked off again, but it looks to my eyeballs about 4 ft x 4.5 ft.

Penn State Nittany Lion graph

Using an H hook and 2 dc per square should give you a throw that's nearly twin sized. If you'd like a twin sized afghan,  put a border around it! Enjoy!

Turtle afghan pattern graph

What a cute little guy!  I haven't made him yet, but my goal was for a baby blanket.  Using a sc for each square with a G hook, I believe this should turn out crib blanket size.  I'll find out soon enough I hope! Using 2 dc for each square would yield a full size blanket, though I'd trim about 5 rows off top and bottom each.

September, 2015: I finally got to use this pattern! I changed the background to white, and used 2 shades of blue for the turtle. I used a G hook and 1Sc per square, but I added 6 columns to the front and back of the turtle and I added 2 rows to the top and bottom. Before border this gave me a 19" x 25 3/4". For the border i went around the outside with 1row each of white, light blue, dark blue. Finished dimensions were about 21" x 27".

What are you working on?

I have to finish my son's Bumblebee blanket before his birthday in September, then I can work in earnest on the Christmas orders.  1 twin size afghan, personalized; 1 Dr. Who Tardis afghan, full size; 2 more green bay afghans (sizes pending).  After the Christmas orders, I have 2 more afghans to complete!  Here I thought my market was for hats!  I love it though.  I've never had a queue this large for projects this size.  What are you working on?  If you need ideas, browse through my free pattern posts and see if there's anything you like.  If you have a special request, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.
