Chicago White Sox

Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox logo has undergone many changes over the years from simple to complex, but I think this is my favorite.

To make a twin size afghan, use 2 dc per graph square with an H hook.  To get your starting chain, double the number of graph squares along the edge where you'll begin and add one more for turning (either 90 x 2 +1 = 181 or 120 x 2 + 1 = 241) and start your first dc in the 3rd chain from the hook.  Dc in each chain to the end and that is your first row of graph squares!

If you'd like to make your own, you can download or print the graph from kendrascrochetedcreations.com.  If you have any questions, put those in the body of your email, keeping in mind I just made the graph and haven't made the blanket.  If you like, I can make the blanket for you, email me for pricing and invoice.

Pittsburgh Pirates graph

Do you know how the Pirates got their name?  They were originally the Alleghenys , but when they signed on a much sought after 2nd baseman, they were accused of making a "piratical" move and they embraced the term as their own and wore it proudly.

The logo has changed over the years, as logos often do, but it has most often been a single "P" in some form. The most recent is this pointy letter P whose name for the font I can't find!  I believe they made it up just for the logo, but I could be wrong.

This graph was created to make a twin sized afghan when using 2 dc per graph square with an H hook.  If you would like to make one yourself, you can go to kendrascrochetedcreations.com and save orvprint right from your browser.   If you'd like me to make one for you I can do that. Email me at kendra@kendrascrochetedcreations.com for pricing.

If you make one, please send me a photo!  I love to see your finished products.  If you share, tag me in social media. I'm @KendrasCrochet on Twitter and Instagram and KendrasCrochetedCreations on Facebook.

Let me know what you think!

Cincinnati Reds free graph

The Cincinnati Reds are an American professional baseball team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Reds compete in Major League Baseball as a member club of the National League Central division.  In 1876, Cincinnati became one of the charter members of the new National League, but the club ran afoul of league organizer and long-time president William Hulbert for selling beer during games (the horror!) and renting out their ballpark on Sundays.  Cincinnati president W. H. Kennett refused to sign a pledge to formally ban beer and Sunday baseball, so the other owners formally expelled Cincinnati!  When  attempts to form a new league failed, a new independent ball club known as the Red Stockings was formed in the Spring of 1881, and the team was brought to St. Louis for a weekend exhibition and eventually the American Association was formed.  The Cincinnati Red Stockings left the American Association on November 14, 1889 and joined the National League, changing their name from "Red Stockings" to simply "Reds."

If you'd like a pdf of this graph please email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with "Cincinnati Reds" in the subject line and I'll send it to you.  If you'd like me to make you one, I can do that too, please email me for pricing.

To make your own large throw, use 2 dc per graph square with an H hook.  If you are unsure how to begin, read this blog post on intarsia crochet, but let me know if you have trouble getting started.

If you like my work, please share using the Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest buttons below.  If you make one, I'd love to see a completed photo and with your permission, post it here or on Facebook.  If you post it yourself, please credit the design to me.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have changed their logo several times over the years but I think this is the most recognized one. Or maybe it's just the one I like best 😀 .  It was recently changed again to a single M with a barley head from this baseball glove style MB.

To make your own, email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com for the pdf of the graph, putting "Milwaukee Brewers" in the subject line. Use an H hook and 2 dc per graph square to get a twin sized afghan.  To get a 4 x 5 ft throw, use a J hook and 1 sc per graph square. Increase the number of rows on top and bottom by 5 each and left and right by 15 each.

If you'd like me to make you one, I can do that too.  Email me for pricing.

If you have a special request that hasn't been posted, please let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team in Denver.   Their newest logo, the overlapping "CR" will be pretty simple to translate into yarn.

This graph was created to make a 5 x 6 throw when using 1 sc per graph square with a J hook.  If you like my method of 2 dc per graph square to make a twin sized afghan, then cut 5 rows off each side and 15 off top and bottom to work 2 dc per graph square with an H hook.

What method do you prefer when crocheting an afghan?  Or do you like to play around with different stitches to make different textures?  Let us know in the comments below!

If you'd like the pdf of this graph, please email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with "Colorado Rockies" in the subject line.

Have a wonderful week!

Detroit Tigers

Old English D
Tigers are my favorite animal.  Michigan is my home state.  So of course I favor the Detroit Tigers over all other teams! The official logo is the Old English D you see here, though that has changed over time.  When the team first formed, they were cutting the logos out by hand and sewing them on to uniforms and caps, but the caps and uniforms were made by 2 different companies so they didn't match! Now, we still see different versions on caps and on banners and on uniforms...you get the idea.

Tigers are majestic, graceful, and beautiful. Another great thing about the mascot, PAWS the Tiger, is his affinity for social events!  He loves coming to office parties, community events, birthday parties (he can bring gifts from the Tigers!), weddings (he even has a tuxedo he'll wear-how cool is that?), special deliveries (I would dearly love to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to me by PAWS!), and school events.  What a great guy!

Tiger face
In the partial logo of the tiger's face, he looks strong, ferocious, and a little bit scary!  I haven't worked this one up myself but I might someday!  I do love him.  I spent a lot of time getting his face symmetrical, pixel by pixel.  If you want the pdf of either graph, please let me know at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with the photo caption of the graph you want in the subject line.  Any questions should be in the body of the email.  If you make an afghan from these graphs, please send me a photo to be featured here or on my Facebook. page!  Also, I really love seeing the work you do send to me.

Both graphs should be worked up using an H hook and 2 dc per graph square. The tiger face is larger than my usual graphs, and more squared off, so I would work a couple rows before deciding if the size will be right for you.  If you need help changing the size of your finished product, let me know and I'll do my best to help.  If you want a 4 x 5 throw of the Old English D, add 15 rows to top and bottom and 5 rows to each side and work up using 1 sc per graph square with a J hook.

Baltimore Orioles

Another baseball graph, the Baltimore Orioles bird!  Use an h hook with 2 dc per graph square for a twin-mattress sized throw (without border) or add 15 rows to each side and 5 to the top and bottom to get a 4 x 5 ft throw when using a J hook and 1 sc per graph square.  No text on this graph means that you decide whether to work ot the long way or short way across (I'm betting most use the long way!).  If you'd like this graph in pdf form, email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with "Baltimore Orioles" in the subject line.  Any questions should be put in the body of the email.  If you ake this, please send me a copy tobe featured here or on my facebook page.  Alternatively, post to Instagram and tag #kendrascrochetedcreations I'd love to see it!

St. Louis Cardinals

Not to be confused with the NFL team Arizona Cardinals found here,  the St. Louis Cardinals are a Major League Baseball team (as you can figure out from the bat in the graph).  This graph is created to make a twin mattress top sized throw when using an H hook and 2 dc per graph square.  If you want a 4 x 5 ft throw instead, Add 15 rows to each side and 5 rows to top and bottom, then crochet using a J hook and 1 sc per graph square.  I'd recommend starting from the short side as the lettering is a bit involved if you try to do across those rows. If you'd like a bit more detail on the "intarsia crochet" method I like to use to keep colors from showing through, see my series on Intarsia crochet starting here.

If you'd like this graph, please email me at kendrascrochet@gmail.com with "St. Louis Cardinals" in the subject line and I'll send a pdf.  If you enjoy my work, please join my Facebook Page or leave me a comment below, or send an email.  If you make this afghan, please send me a photo to feature on my Facebook page, or to add here.

I've had inquiries as to whether I make and sell the finished product.  Yes I do.  If you have anything in mind you can't find on my blog I'll work with you to create something that you'll love.
